My daddy took us all to Pigeon Forge a few weeks ago. James Hyer stayed home with Matt and the grandmothers because it was too long of a trip him (he doesn't ride well for long). We had a lot of fun - it was really neat watching Matthew and Ann Lamar enjoying all of the same things we did growing up. Here are a few of the pictures.

Last week we went to Orange Beach with the Kimmel's, Brown's and Lamb's. Four adults, four 4 year olds and four almost 2 year olds. Yes, it was chaotic but so much fun!! I didn't have a camera with me but hopefully I'll get some more from the others to post.

Mother's Day Program

Matthew's preschool had their Mother's Day program last week. It was really cute! We are getting a new playground and it was dedicated to sweet Mr. Sam. He is the handy man and #1 volunteer for St. John's Preschool and everyone loves him - especially the kids! He and Matthew are big buddies so I had to get their picture together.

Matthew has been one whole week without wearing a pull-up at night! He hasn't had any accidents...... yet! I am trying not to make too big of a deal out of it but I am soooo glad!

James Hyer's day at the park

We went to the park last week with some friends while the weather was nice. This was the first time James Hyer had been since he has been walking. First of all he fell of the bench of the picnic table and busted his lip. Then he managed to go right through the only puddle at the park. Of course he fell and was soaked from the waist down! I changed his clothes after a while because I started feeling bad for him. He fell a few more times and ate several handfuls of dirt before we went home. He had a ball!!

My sweet Mamaw's birthday is today. She passed away almost 2 years ago. I have been thinking about her all day and missing her more than usual. I thought I'd put a picture of her up too - but it just doesn't do her justice.... she was so much prettier. She had the sweetest smile which of course she hardly ever showed in pictures! Here is what I found..... I took this picture of Matthew when we got home from Turner's (my cousin Dee's little boy who is Matthew's buddy!) birthday party in October 2007. I remember this because of the sucker he got as a favor. He was posing by his pumpkins - my mama gave him the Tigger one and Matthew and Aunt Kimberly painted the other two for he and James Hyer. It's crazy how much he has grown up in the past year.

Matthew's "friend birthday party" was at the Warehouse. It is a neat place in town that has what I call a giant, clean, indoor McDonald's playground. The kids all had a ball. James Hyer was 17 months old yesterday. It has been a while since I've posted about him so I thought I'd post some new pictures . He weighs 21 1/2 lbs. now and is finally taking a few steps..... mainly when he is going after something or someone. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope everybody else did too.

Trunk or Treat

Our church had its "Trunk or Treat" tonight. All of the "trunks" had a biblical theme this year. It was really cute and we had a great turnout. Here are a few pictures.

My sweet niece Ann Carol. Her pig outfit was so adorable even though she refused to wear her ears. If you look closely you'll see the rainbow is falling on her as she is trying to pull a sucker!Sampson and Deliah (aka the Walcotts) They are telling the kids "their story". It was so cute.

Playdate

We had a playdate last Friday with the Browns, Kimmels, and Lambs. We have all been so busy this summer that we haven't all gotten together in a long time. I think this was the first time all 4 babies have played together since they've been "mobile". As you can see in the pictures - Macy is going to be the boss of the little boys just like Brooke is of the bigger boys. And I just want to let it be known that the only way I got the 4 big kids to sit still for a picture was by bribing them with candy.

Charleston

This weekend I went on a girls' trip to Charleston. This picture was taken at a little wine tasting we went to before dinner one night. The whole weekend was wonderful - we ate and shopped and ate some more!! We did do a little of the "touristy" stuff one afternoon too. We had a great trip and we are all looking forward to next year! We missed Shelbi and Beth Kittle - y'all better join us next year!!

I am so blessed to have such a great group of friends to do fun things with. We started a "birthday fund" this year and it has been great. There are 9 of us in our group and when any of us had a birthday we would each give $10 to the birthday fund. We used the money in Charleston to pay for some of our meals and a few cab rides and it worked out great.

James Hyer's first "trim"

Last week my sister gave James Hyer his first "trim" - it was hardly a haircut but we just had to get it out of his face. As you can see in the pictures - he was NOT happy. He had been running a little fever that day and I thought it was just his teeth but the poor thing really had roseolla. He has been pretty miserable since last Wednesday - bless his sweet little heart!!

Here are some pictures at Kennywood - one of the oldest amusement parks in the U.S. It was a lot of fun even though it was so hot it felt like we were back home. The kids especially loved the Kiddieland section that had smaller rides for them. They didn't have to wait in line very long either like in the rest of the park. The last day we were in Pittsburgh we just hung out at Karen and Ray's house by the pool and their kids and grandkids came over. It was so nice to just relax and of course eat (and drink) all day!!! I am going to attempt to make a slide show of the rest of the pictures from our trip but I don't know how long it will take me to figure it out!!

Last week we went to visit Grandale's family in Pittsburgh. We all had a wonderful time and are so glad we got to go. Dale's cousins Karen and Ray (aka Ga Ga and Pappy) were the most gracious hosts to us and Matthew and Ann Lamar had so much fun playing with their grandkids Marissa, Joey and Jacob. I'm sure in a few years that James Hyer will be having just as much fun with the babies, Mia and Ella too! It was so good to see Dale's mom, Madeleine (aka Mae Mae) too - she is so sweet. Shea and Ann Rogers were in town and they came over to swim with us last week. I got a couple of pictures of JH and AR but it was kind of hard to get them to be still! And, like a dummy, I forgot to take my camera outside so there are no pictures of them in the pool. Ann Rogers is so sweet - they came by one night when they were out strolling and she kept grabbing at James Hyer and then she laid her head on him and was loving on him - it was sooo cute!!!

It's hard to believe that a year has passed.... this time last year I was so terrified that we'd never even make it. James Hyer just had to prove to all of us that he was going to be his own person and do everything on his own time. I have truly learned so much this last year and have been blessed more than I could've ever imagined. Having a premature baby was the scariest thing I've ever been through but in a strange way it was the greatest thing too because I got to watch God work in our lives in such a special way. I won't say that I wish it all hadn't happened the way it did but looking back now I can honestly say that our family is stronger and our faith in God is stronger because of it. So.... Happy Birthday little angel boy! I love you more than you'll ever know. Here are a few pictures from James Hyer's first year.

This is James Hyer. He is 7 1/2 months old now and weighs 16 pounds. Quite a long way from 3 lbs. 5 oz. at birth! Poor little fella has to get tubes in his ears this Thursday.
